Darkness Before Dawn (Darkness Before Dawn #1)
by J. A. London
Only sunlight can save us.
We built the wall to keep them out, to keep us safe. But it also makes us prisoners, trapped in what's left of our ravaged city, fearing nightfall.
After the death of my parents, it's up to me--as the newest delegate for humanity--to bargain with our vampire overlord. I thought I was ready. I thought I knew everything there was to know about the monsters. Then again, nothing could have prepared me for Lord Valentine . . . or his son. Maybe not all vampires are killers. Maybe it's safe to let one in.
Only one thing is certain: Even the wall is not enough. A war is coming and we cannot hide forever.
** summary from Goodreads
Dawn Montgomery, is the delegate that connects the vampires to the humans. Darkness Before Dawn, captured my attention not only because of its cover, but also because of it's story. I must say after reading this story I have changed my view on Vampire Stories. NO, really I'm not kidding! :))
I mean, the story is different. At first it was dark, sad, and a bit dragging (as my father would say) but once you really get into it the story itself is really interesting. Especially the characters. Dawn, the orphaned delegate who lost her family to the vampires. Vincent, son of Valentine, rescuer of Dawn, and the mysterious dark character at the few chapters. Tegan, Dawn's best friend, and a bit of a party girl for me. Micheal, Dawn's boyfriend and childhood friend.
The chemistry between Dawn and Vincent even when they met the first time is amazing! <3 their story is not like any other since the feeling Dawn has for vampire before she had met Vincent were to me seemed like hate. But as she is the delegate she isn't allowed to be biased. But then meeting Vincent her views started to change :) As the story prigress so does the characters especially when a new threat comes. Which is another reason why the story has kept me interested in it.
Though, it would really be nice if some parts would be in Vincent's point of view, you know? other wise the book is okay :))
Sorry I couldn't say much for this book, if I did I would be giving out spoilers :)
Darkness before Dawn shows us friendship, love, and family. It's twists and turns left me awaiting for the 2nd book of the series.Which is why I give 5 out of 5 Stars to Darkness Before Dawn.
