What I saw at the bookstore :)

Look at what I saw a while ago at a bookstore near my school! :D The finally have Catching Fire! OMG this is the first time in a long time since I last saw this series COMPLETE in a bookshelf! Been a very long time! This definitely made my day! :) One of my favorite series EVER

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1) by

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister’s place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2) by Suzanne Collins

Sparks are igniting, flames are spreading and the Capitol wants revenge.

Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol-- a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.

Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

In Catching Fire, the second novel of the Hunger Games trilogy, Suzanne Collins continues the story of Katniss Everdeen, testing her more than ever before... and surprising readers at every turn.

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games #3) by

My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead? I should be dead.

Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss's family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.

It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plains--except Katniss.

The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss's willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels' Mockingjay--no matter what the personal cost.

Leif (Existence, #2.5) by Abbi Glines

Just saw this in  Abbi Glines blog <3

Leif (Existence #2.5) cover reveal
 Expected publication: July 2012

"While writing Predestined, I fell in love with Leif. He is misunderstood and he has a pretty whacked up life. I knew that I would have to give him his own trilogy in 2013. However, before I can do that, I wanted to share with readers Leif's POV from Predestined. Give them a closer look into his life and let them into his head. There were so many things Pagan didn't know about Leif and her history with him. The idea behind Leif was born. I am not giving an exact date just yet but I can tell you that Leif will release this summer. It will be a novella and although many of the scenes will be ones you remember from Predestined, Leif has a story all his own to tell."

                                                    "She was mine.
                                                 I owned her soul.
                                          Until, Death stole her heart."
                                                           -Leif

Die for Me (Revenants #1) by: Amy Plum

Die for Me (Revenants #1) by: Amy Plum

In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

------

What brought my attention to this book while I was in the bookstore scanning for some books to buy is the book cover. But after reading the summary of Die for Me; I instantly fell for this book. Reading it brought me to Paris, a place I have a dream of going to at least in the future. Die for Me has an this interesting-mysterious kind of vibe to it that when I read it I found it really hard to stop reading. The way the author wrote the book truly did capture my attention.

The leading lady character Kate Mercier, is someone whom I can compare to Lena Dunchannes from Beautiful Creatures written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. The similarities between Kate and Lena is that both girls at first wouldn't really interact with other people, like they had their own world. But as the story progressed Kate slowly came out of the shell she made when her parents died. Vincent, one of the revenants that Kate met and is also her love interest in the story. For me Vincent is the kind of guy who would do everything to protect the people he cares about; but at the same time he is also someone who is strong-willed.

By the last chapter of the book, I already can;t wait to get the second book of the series. In all I thought that this book is magnifique! 5 of 5 stars rating indeed!! :D :D :D GO TEAM VINCENT! hehehehe! :D

Some books I'm looking forward to reading

Note: Got all of these from goodreads.com :)

Alice in Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles #1) by

She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real….

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….

I wish I could go back and do a thousand things differently.
I'd tell my sister no.
I'd never beg my mother to talk to my dad.
I'd zip my lips and swallow those hateful words.
Or, barring all of that, I'd hug my sister, my mom and my dad one last time.
I'd tell them I love them.
I wish... Yeah, I wish.
Enshadowed (Nevermore #2) by

Varen Nethers is trapped in a perilous dream world -- a treacherous and desolate realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life. Isobel Lanley, plagued by strange visions and haunted by the nightmares of Varen's creation, is the only one who can save him.
Isobel knows that her only hope lies within a Baltimore cemetery. There, in the early morning hours of Edgar Allan Poe's birthday, a mysterious stranger known as the "Poe Toaster" will make his annual homage at the legendary poet's grave.
Only the Poe Toaster holds the key to the way between worlds. But even greater dangers lie ahead for Isobel. An ancient evil, draped in veils of white, is watching, challenging her for Varen's affections. When Isobel finally finds Varen, he is no longer the quiet and brooding boy who once captivated her, but a dark force, powerful and malevolent.

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarre connection. I’ve sworn him off even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But against all common sense, I’m falling for him. Hard.

Our relationship issues aren’t out biggest problem…

The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And when a new boy shows up a school with a secret of his own, things get complicated fast. I need to choose between my own instincts and Daemon’s.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. Daemon’s never going to stop searching until gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies.

Ceaseless (Existence Trilogy #3)  by Abbi Glines

He defied Heaven to keep her, he defeated evil to save her, but if her soul wants another... will he be able to let her go?

Gravity (The Taking #1) by Melissa West

In the future, only one rule will matter: Don’t. Ever. Peek.

Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last person she expected hovering above her bed--arrogant Jackson Locke, the most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help him, or everyone on Earth will die.

Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her question what she’s been taught about his kind. And against her instincts, she’s falling for him. But Ari isn’t just any girl, and Jackson wants more than her attention. She’s a military legacy who’s been trained by her father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can know--especially an alien spy, like Jackson. Giving Jackson the information he needs will betray her father and her country, but keeping silent will start a war.

Catch up reading week

May 21-26, 2012 is my Catch up reading week (CURW) these are my thoughts on what I've read. please be nice. :)

Firstly last May 21, 2012 (Monday) when I planned to start my CURW, I firstly read Nevermore by Kelly Creagh, which made me intrigued just by the book cover and the summary. The story of how two very different people with different levels of popularity in school got paired up for a project and the way they reacted to it was very interesting that had me hooked up. Especially since on was the usual popular school cheerleader who is Isobel and the other was someone who is like a emo-loner kind but at the same time a misunderstood character who is very much mysterious who is Varen. The book also showed how peers do play an important role, but at the same time they could be the ones who would lead you to your happiness or failure, that sometimes one must learn to go on their own and now always go with their peers choices. By the end of the book it left me wanting the story to not end because of the cliff-hanger it had ended with. It had also made me be more excited as to what would happen next to the second book named Enshadowed that will be released on August 28, 2012.  GO TEAM VAREN!!!

May 22, 2012 (Tuesday) day 2 of my CURW was when I read Destiny's Fire by Trisha Wolfe, my first thought in the first few chapters of this book was that it would be a tragedy story about love, friendship, and war. Well, after reading the book I was wrong about the tragedy part of course. But the book did have me wondering in the later chapters on who Dez Harkly would choose between her best friend Jace or the guy she met in a club who is named Reese. Besides that, the story also had the me excited as Dez discovered the truth about who she is. But at the end it also left me hanging and wanting for more on the problems Dez and her friends have to face. but as far as the pairing goes I'm on team Reese! GO TEAM REESE!!!

May 23, 2012 (Wednesday) day 3. Existence & Predestined by Abbi Glines, the first book I have ever read with a different approach. well in this case Death falls in love. To me this is different since I haven't read any like this wear Death break the rules for one human girl named Pagan Moore. Not to mention that Pagan has the ability to see souls oh and that she has been marked.  But I am getting ahead of myself. Reading the first book Existence had me very much exciting to know what king of story will this be. And I say, reading the first book, and the fist few chapters had me on TEAM LEIF, but when Dank (a.k.a Death) saved Pagan and became the rockstar guy I went to TEAM DANK already (has a weakness for musicians).

By book two the story had me on higher expectations already on the challenges that await both Pagan and Dank. Especially when they found out that Pagan's soul has been marked, and Pagan keeps on having these dreams or memories of when she was a little girl. But that wasn't the only problem they had because in book two whatever marked Pagan's soul wants to have her already and in the process will do everything to have her, even if it means harming those she loves. But of course in the end good triumphs over evil :D. and so I am definitely looking forward to what is to happen to book three titled Ceaseless, which will be out on September 18, 2012 GO TEAM DANK!!!

May 24, 2012 (Thursday) when I read Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. The story of the Lux Series after reading book 1 had me wanting for more, just like the previous books I've read this week but the difference this time the characters are aliens who have the power of light, and when new girl Katy moves in the town they are staying in. anf things start to change. Especially when Daemon's younger sister Dee takes a liking to befriending Katy. The end of book 1 for my was well wrapped up that leaves me wondering what kind of development will happen in book 2 with the relationship between Katy and Daemon, especially with the bond they have with one another. GO TEAM DAEMON!!!

May 26, 2012 (Saturday) the last CURW book of the week, Eternal Starling by Angela Corbett. Now this book, for me in reading it led me to think about birthmarks as something special. It actually made me wonder what if the birthmarks that we do have is actually marks that would help us find our soulmates. Now, wouldn't that be just really be lovely? I mean love life would be so much easier. As my reading for the story progressed I'd say that Evie would definitely have a hard time choosing between her two possible soulmates. Maybe in the first few chapters of the story I would really say I am a TEAM ALEX NIGHT. But by the time the other soulmate of Evie appeared, I'd say there is a part of me that became a TEAM EMIL STONE fan. But in the TEAM ALEX NIGHT still won for me. So, GO TEAM ALEX!!!

Well that's a wrap :) Really love all books I've been reading. :) Hopefully I get to read some more with the school year starting again this JUNE :) hihihi. my first try on expressing what I though about the books I've read in the open. :))

MOOD: Happy :)

P.S. Comments please~!! would really love to improve and learn a few things! :) Thanks :)
